Wrocław, Poland, October 16, 2023 – The ICPC European Training Camp powered by Huawei took place in Poland in October 2023.
The ICPC Training Camp powered by Huawei is an international program initiated by the International Collegiate Programming Contest University Commons (ICPC Union). ICPC is a global programming competition among universities worldwide, and it increasingly involves industry-academia collaboration. Huawei has been a strong supporter of ICPC activities.
This year’s European training camp was conducted from October 13 to 15 and hosted 40 teams from universities across 17 European countries. The camp featured three training sessions and a tech workshop aimed at enhancing students’ programming skills and industry knowledge. Some participants will apply the problem-solving strategies and cutting-edge concepts they’ve acquired in this camp to compete at the 46th Annual ICPC World Finals in Egypt.
Dr. William B. Poucher, ICPC Foundation President and ICPC Executive Director, emphasized the critical role of universities in fostering community development and global cultural connections. He acknowledged that this event and the financial support provided to teams were made possible by Huawei, which serves as both an ICPC multi-regional and ICPC World Finals diamond sponsor. Huawei’s mission is to bring digital connectivity to every individual, home, and organization, creating a fully connected intelligent world.
Wang Lei, HR Director of Huawei’s European Research Institute, spoke at the camp’s opening ceremony, highlighting Huawei’s commitment to supporting the ICPC Training Camp since 2021. Huawei aims to provide an extended platform for high-level programming, training, and innovation. The company is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals in their scientific pursuits, with the hope that participants can achieve more than they expect.
This marks the second time that the ICPC European Training Camp powered by Huawei has been held in Poland. Huawei’s ongoing support for the ICPC Training Camp underscores its commitment to open research platforms focused on the future of information terminals, computing, and connectivity. The goal is to advance science, technology, and industry development to meet the demands of tomorrow.
